Compensation Regulations

EU Regulations (EC261/2004)

  • Applicable
    Flights

    • All flights departing from EU countries (Including flights within the EU)
    • All flights arriving in EU countries, operated by EU flag carriers such as Lufthansa and Air France/KLM.
  • Delays

    €250~600

    • Your flight is delayed by more than 3 hours from the scheduled arrival time at your destination.
    • € 600 for delays of 4 hours or more, € 300 for delays of 3-4 hours or more
  • Flight
    Cancellations

    €250~600

    • If the scheduled flight is canceled, compensation will be determined according to the delay time compared to the scheduled arrival time and the distance traveled.
  • Denied
    Boarding

    €250~600

    • Compensation will be determined based on distance traveled regardless of whether an alternative flight is offered.
  • Missed
    connection

    €250~600

    • If you have missed connecting flight due to delay, cancellation, denied boarding, attributable to the airline, compensation will be determined depending on the delay time compared to the scheduled arrival time and the distance traveled.
    • However, compensation is only available when a ticket is purchased in a single ticket to the final destination.
  • Compensation is available only if the airline is responsible for delays/cancellations of flights taken within the last two years. (Except for bad weather, airport circumstances, etc.)
  • The exact amount of compensation will be determined based on the delay time and distance traveled.
  • By definition, delayed “time” is the difference between the original scheduled arrival time and the actual arrival time at the final destination. The arrival time is determined when the aircraft arrives at the gate and one or more gates are open so that passengers can disembark.
  • In case of delay or cancellation, airlines are responsible for providing alternative flight, hotel (if accommodation is required), transportation to the hotel, food and beverage, as per the regulations, and this cannot replace the entitled compensation.
  • Passengers cannot claim compensation if they received vouchers or points/miles as a replacement for compensation.
  • The right to compensation rests with the actual passenger, not the person who paid for the flight.
  • In the case of flight cancellation, compensation will only be available if the airline notified the cancellation within 14 days prior to departure. The compensation amount will vary depending on whether an alternative flight is provided.
